New Anchors At 'CBS This Morning' Enjoy Good Start

CBS this Morning’s new anchor lineup is already improving the ratings, new data shows, reports The NYPost.

For the week ended May 20, the program posted 3.1 million total viewers, topping ratings from the prior week of 3 million viewers, according to Nielsen.

The new lineup, which has King flanked by Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil, also scored more younger viewers than the previous week, when O’Donnell and co-host Jeff Dickerson were still in the lineup, the data shows. O’Donnell’s last show was May 16.

For the week ended May 20, “CBS This Morning” drew 760,000 viewers in the key 25-to-54-year-old group, up from 749,000 viewers the prior week, Nielsen said.

O’Donnell and Dickerson were moved off the show as part of a broader shakeup that has O’Donnell succeeding “CBS Evening” News host Jeff Glor. Dickerson is off to “60 Minutes.”

While the new lineup boosted eyeballs from the previous week, King still has a long way to go to beat ABC’s “Good Morning America” and NBC’s “Today.”

ABC drew 4 million viewers for the week of May 20, down 4% from the year-earlier period, and NBC attracted 3.9 million viewers, also down 4% from the previous year while the Tiffany Network’s 3.1 million viewers is a drop of 12%.

In the 25-to-54-year-old demographic, ABC dipped 5% to 1.1 million, NBC fell 9 percent to 1.2 million and CBS declined 10%.
