Atlanta Radio: Listeners Vote On Top Talkers

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution last week asked readers to vote for  their favorite news talk radio host.   And the Winner is....

Rashad Richey
Rashad Richey of News/Talk WAOK 1380 swept the poll with 44 percent of the final vote.  Richey spoke to the AJC this September for an interview covering his new podcast, politics and his background as a professor and writer.

“My days are packed but I thoroughly enjoy being a broadcaster, writer and professor in equal parts,” he told the AJC.

Second place with 27 percent was Shannon Burke of New Talk WYAY 106.7. Burke also did well on a poll last year asking readers for their favorite radio personality. Burke locked down a three-year-contract last year after his show became a hit with Atlanta-area listeners.

Eric Von Haessler of WSB 750 AM / 95.5 FM came in third. Von Haessler, who took Herman Cain’s old spot, joined WSB in 2015 with a weekly Sunday show.

Other radio hosts in the poll were Kim Peterson of WYAY 106.7, Mark Arum of WSB Radio, Erick Erickson of WSB Radio, Derrick Boazman of WAOK, Scott Slade of WSB Radio, Lois Reitzes of WABE 90.1, Leah Fleming of GBP 88.5, Jim Burress of WABE 90.1 and Dana Barrett of WGST 640 AM.
