R.I.P.: Former Cape Cod Radio Commentator Francis Broadhurst

Francis Broadhurst
Award-winning journalist and Cape radio personality Francis Ian Broadhurst, known by those closest to him as a Renaissance man, a devoted father and an effective communicator, died July 5.

He was 82, according to The Cape Cod Times.

Broadhurst was best known for his conservative-leaning commentary, known as Broadhurst Reports, which aired on WQRC 99.9 FM radio. He wrote columns on a range of subjects for the Cape Cod Times until 2006.

“He was a walking encyclopedia,” his daughter said. “His personality was just beautiful, but he was also tough.”

Broadhurst was a traditional conservative who believed in minimal government and defending the Constitution, but he won the respect of his political colleagues from across the spectrum, his daughter said.
