The “Mark & Denise in the Mornings” show launched this week on WWDB 860 AM.
The show will broadcast live Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m according to a press release from the show’s co-host Rev. Mark "The AME" Tyler.
The Philadelphia Tribune reports Tyler and Denise Clay announced their departures from WURD 990 AM in late December. Both issued online statements after the station terminated their three-month contract.
The duo were contracted to replace Solomon Jones, who left WURD after three years to go to Praise 107.9 last October. According to WURD Radio President/CEO Sara Lomax-Reese, station management and the co-hosts had different programing ideas and when the morning show was not a success, decided to not renew their contract.
“There were just some challenges,” said Lomax-Reese. “We typically had not had teams as our hosts, and had typically had individuals as our hosts. This was an experiment and something that we intentionally looked at doing for a three-month period. At the end of the day, both sides really felt it wasn’t working.”
