Chicago Radio Goes Hockey Crazy

The Chicago Blackhawks are once again the toast of the town, as the team has reached the 2013 Stanley Cup Finals, which begin tomorrow. At least two Chicago radio stations are celebrating the Blackhawks' achievement with special programming over the next week or so.

According to Chicago Radio & Media, WGN-720 AM will be carrying local broadcasts of all games of the Stanley Cup Finals, regardless of the Chicago Cubs schedule and previously scheduled programming. WLUP-FM will be airing the Cubbies when there are hockey conflicts.

WGN-AM may be the flagship radio home of the Chicago Blackhawks, but another station in town has the ability to talk about the Chicago Blackhawks virtually 24/7: WSCR-AM/670 The Score. Said Program Director Mitch Rosen today: "We really feel we have created a location for Hawk fans to interact on the air about the team." WSCR-AM has numerous events planned for the next week or so.

The station will be broadcasting live often from The Third Rail, located at 1133 Madison street, just blocks from the United Center.

Next week, when the series moves to Boston, WSCR’s McNeil & Spiegel will venture into enemy territory and broadcast live from Boston's Harp Bar, located directly across the street from Boston's TD Garden arena.
