The Top 40 playlist on radio in mid-March 1963 included hits like "Rhythm of the Rain," "The End of the World" and "He's So Fine."

According to beaumontenterprise.com, Al Caldwell, who more than likely spun those records in a radio broadcast booth that week, celebrates his 50th anniversary on Beaumont radio today…it’s also his birthday…and shows no sign of signing off anytime soon.

Caldwell's first job was with KAYC, beginning March 12, 1963. He spent the last 35 years at KLVI, 560 AM.

At 77 years old - also today - Caldwell might be the undisputed king of local talk radio.
