NYC Radio: Trump Shooting Coverage Aired Live On WABC

WABC Radio was at the ready on Saturday when owner and CEO of Red Apple Media and WABC Radio John Catsimatidis was one of the first people in America to receive early information that shots were fired at former U.S. President and presumptive Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump, during a rally in Philadelphia. This early information allowed WABC Radio to jump into action.

WABC Radio was broadcasting live and initially remained in programming, with regular news updates. As more information was gathered and confirmed, including that former President Trump had been wounded, Catsimatidis made the decision to interrupt the live programming – Cousin Brucie’s Saturday Night Rock & Roll Party -- and bring in Curtis Sliwa to go on air and work with the news team throughout the evening to provide accurate and vital information to our listeners.

“Listeners called in all evening to thank us for giving them the truth,” said Catsimatidis. “Violence, including political violence, is never acceptable in America. We are a country of laws and what transpired Saturday night is not who we are. We are relieved that President Trump suffered only superficial wounds, but that should not minimize this unacceptable violence.”

Throughout the evening, Catsimatidis and WABC Radio air personalities called in, including Dominic Carter, Rita Cosby, Greg Kelly, and more.

WABC Radio continues to cover the story live and take calls from listeners. “I am immensely proud of our team who at a moment’s notice dropped whatever they were doing to bring our listeners up-to-the-minute information,” Catsimatidis added. “Emotions are high across America. By delivering the facts, we bring a sense of calm to our listening community.”
