Boston Radio: WZLX Shakes-Up Mornings, Rich Shertenlieb Is In

It was a rude awakening for WZLX 100.7 FM loyal listeners today, when they learned that their longtime morning show was no more.

Boston’s classic rock station announced that beloved morning hosts Pete McKenzie and Heather Ford are out. And former Rich Shertenlieb is in with a new morning show..coming soon.

The shakeup at iHeartMedia's WZLX comes several months after morning show co-host Kevin Karlson died unexpectedly.

“On behalf of everyone here at WZLX, we’d like to share some news about the future of Boston’s Classic Rock,” the station said in an on-air message.

A short time later WZLX unveiled the replacement show will feature Rich Shertenlieb, best known for long tenure at 98.5 The Sports Hub, a Beasley Media station.  The announcement was posted on the WZLX website..with no start date noted.

Shertenlieb in the fall left the 98.5 morning show after a longtime run with Fred Toucher. In Shertenlieb’s WZLX announcement on social media, he wrote that “non-competes are the worst and should be totally illegal.”
