Audacy HAS announced the launch of the third season of Gone South, the Edward R. Murrow Award-winning original investigative franchise.
“Gone South, Season 1: Who Killed Margaret Coon?” investigated the bizarre and brutal unsolved murder of a former Louisiana sex crimes prosecutor. “Gone South, Season 2: The Dixie Mafia” investigated the Dixie Mafia, who terrorized the Southeastern United States from the early 1960s to the 1980s. The true crime juggernaut won a prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award and has been a fixture on the top podcast charts, bringing in over ten million downloads to date.
Now, in “Gone South, Season 3: The Sign Cutter,” Audacy and Jed Lipinski, the Emmy- and Peabody Award-nominated producer and journalist, team up once again to unravel the story behind the 2018 killings of four sex workers in the border town of Laredo, Texas. Those murders triggered a manhunt for a serial killer that would lead to a shocking standoff with a man once tasked with protecting the town.
“Gone South, Season 3: The Sign Cutter” will launch on October 18, 2023, with all six episodes available to binge exclusively on the Audacy app and with the first episode everywhere podcasts are available. New episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays throughout the season.
“We’re very excited to be releasing a new season of ‘Gone South’ with our partners at Audacy,” said Jed Lipinski.
“Jed is at the top of his game as an investigative storyteller and we’re thrilled to be working with him on another season of the incredible ‘Gone South’ franchise,” said Jenna Weiss-Berman, EVP, Podcasts, Audacy.
