R.I.P.: Tim Cable, WJCW Tri Cities TN Morning Host, Sportscaster

Veteran Tri-Cities broadcaster Tim Cable has died.  He was 60 years-of-age. His wife says Cable passed away this weekend after being hospitalized with complications from COVID-19. The couple observed their wedding anniversary Saturday.

Cable most recently was morning show host on Cumulus Media's WJCW 910 AM in Johnson city, TN  For years, he anchored, weather and sports on News Channel 11 WJHL-TV and created the popular feature series “Cable Country” in which Tim featured his favorite people and places in the region.

Complications from COVID-19 led to Tim’s hospitalization in early August.

He started his radio career at WBEJ in Elizabethton before venturing into television where he anchored news, weather and sports.

He had a 25-year career with WJHL before moving to WCYB in 2014. He stayed a fixture on radio, doing Science Hill sports for several years for WKPT before moving to WJCW and doing play-by-play for the Washington County schools.
