Westwood One News Wins 4th Straight Golden Mike Award

Paul Glickman of the Radio Television News Association (and KPCC ) presenting Westwood One News correspondent Jim Roope with Westwood One News's 4th straight Golden Mike award Saturday night in Los Angeles.

For the fourth straight year, Westwood One News has won the prestigious Golden Mike award in the only network radio category: “Best News Reporting.”

The award was presented Saturday night in Los Angeles. The news network was honored for correspondent Jim Roope’s reporting on the one-year anniversary of the Las Vegas shootings. The Westwood One News reporting focused on the long road to recovery and healing still ahead.

Westwood One News returned to Las Vegas as the city marked one year since the October 1, 2017 massacre, when a gunman opened fire on the Route 91 Concert from the 32nd Floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel. Fifty-eight people were killed and near 900 were injured. Roope attended religious and civic remembrance services and ceremonies and spoke with survivors, first responders, and government officials about the impact the shooting still has on the city one year later.

Westwood One News has won the Golden Mike award in every year of its existence; the news network just celebrated its 4th year of programming.
