Westwood One News is producing two long-form Year in Review programs for stations:
The Year in Review – The Big Stories, anchored by First Light host Evan Haning; and The Year in Review – People, Sports and Entertainment, anchored by America in the Morning host John Trout. The network is also providing stations a 20-part series of one-minute reports, each on a major story of 2017, from President Trump’s first year to the year in business, entertainment, and sports.
Both The Year in Review half-hour specials and the 20-part series are available to Westwood One News affiliates and Cumulus stations.
- The Year in Review - The Big Stories will take a look back on the first year of Donald Trump’s presidency, from the Inauguration, cabinet and staff shake-ups, and the Russian collusion investigation to efforts to repeal Obamacare and enact tax reform. Additional stories include natural disasters caused by hurricanes and fires, as well as mass shootings and a terrorist attack. The Big Stories will also look at the mounting sexual harassment scandals and other big stories that made news in 2017. The Year in Review - The Big Stories will run the weekend of December 23-24 and replaces The Week in Review.
- The Year in Review - People, Sports, and Entertainment will look at the downfall of major figures in entertainment and other industries, including the sexual harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein, Louis CK, Roy Moore, Sen. Al Franken, Matt Lauer, and others, to the trials of Bill Cosby and Sen. Bob Menendez. From other top personalities making news to the top movies, music and award show winners, People, Sports, and Entertainment highlights pop culture and water cooler stories and also looks back on the top entertainers we lost in 2017. The program will report on the Houston Astros World Series victory, the New England Patriots Super Bowl LI victory, and controversies in the NFL -- from brain injuries to kneeling during the national anthem, plus look at winners and top stories across the other major professional and college sports. The Year in Review - People, Sports, and Entertainment will run the weekend of December 23-24 and replaces America This Week.
