Morning Joe To Trump Spox: You're Not Telling The Truth
On Wednesday's Morning Joe, Sarah Huckabee Sanders sparred with hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski over President Donald Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the deputy White House press secretary, who is filling in for Sean Spicer during this week's pressers, was asked by MSNBC's Willie Geist to clarify her comments that the investigation into allegations that members of the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to influence the election has become "absurd."
“I know that person after person, including your own Joe Scarborough, has said that there is no evidence of collusion here,” Sanders replied.
That prompted Scarborough to jump in. "I said there is no obvious evidence of collusion out there right now and if there were that obvious evidence of collusion it would have already been leaked," he said. "I also said there needs to be in-depth investigations because it probably will take an independent prosecutor to figure out the financial ties between Donald Trump and Russia."
Sanders called their claims an "egregious stretch," while Scarborough accused her of twisting his words.
"We've had almost an entire year that they have spent — the House committees, the Senate committees, the FBI," said Sanders. "Everybody has looked into this and everybody comes to the same conclusion."
Brzezinski interrupted her there to say, "You're actually not telling the truth right now."
Sanders replied, "That's a pretty bold claim."
Fellow White House aide Kellyanne Conway appeared Wednesday morning on CNN, where she also defended Trump to Chris Cuomo after engaging in a tense conversation over Trump's decision the night prior with Anderson Cooper.
Early Wednesday morning, Trump took to Twitter to comment on the firing, saying that both parties will thank him once the dust settles.
