The founder of Buffalo's Dyngus Day parade demanded an apology from WGRF 96.9 FM 97Rock radio station Saturday for airing Polish jokes on the day of the Polish-American post-Lenten celebration.
The station spent hours Monday "airing one insult after another," said Eddy Dobosiewicz, a former stand-up comic and current president of Dyngus Day Buffalo, at a protest Saturday outside the Polish Cadets Club in Black Rock. "Polonia will not stand for that and if we don't get the apology we deserve soon we will take additional steps" including pressing for a boycott by advertisers.
97 Rock's morning show personalities solicited and told Polish jokes Monday and invited listeners on air and through social media to call the radio station with their best Polish jokes, Dobosiewicz said.
Dobosiewicz said he called officials at the Cumulus Media station earlier in the week who told him they would "think about" staging an on-air apology, according to The Buffalo News.
