Goldthwaite is a marketing and communications executive with 25 years of experience that span branding, visual storytelling, digital communications and media for major brands and non-profits. As NPR's Chief Marketing Officer, she will lead the implementation of a brand and marketing strategy to increase the visibility of NPR and public radio, and to grow audience and revenue.
"We are thrilled that Meg has agreed to join us. She is a highly energetic leader who has the experience to build on our strong brand and help NPR connect with new audiences," said Mohn. "NPR's mission is to work in partnership with Member stations to create a more informed public. Robust marketing and outreach programs will increase our reach and help us fulfill this mission."
"I grew up listening to my local NPR member station, WAMU. The news was on in the morning, and my mom played its bluegrass as she drove me around. Now I wake up to its newscasts and run with its podcasts," said Goldthwaite. "It has never been more important for our country to have consistent, trusted sources for news. Public radio is the ideal platform for the free and thoughtful exchange of ideas and information—and thus vital to our democracy. NPR's most exciting opportunity is sharing that exchange with new generations and diverse audiences."
