DC Radio: WMAL Raises $316K For Fisher House

For the second year in a row, listeners to Cumulus News/Talker WMAL 630 AM / 105.9 FM Washington, D.C. donated over $300,000 to the Fisher House Foundation, which builds and provides group homes for families of America’s wounded servicemen and women as they undergo treatment.

Through WMAL's Operation Fisher House 2015 Radiothon, broadcast live on WMAL Friday, December 4, from 5:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, December 5, from 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., WMAL raised a total of $316,000. Throughout the Radiothon, WMAL listeners heard inspiring stories from the families who have benefited from Fisher House.

WMAL listeners have donated almost $5 million dollars to the Fisher House Foundation to help build houses for the families of injured veterans as they return home for treatment since the station began its annual fund-raising efforts twelve years ago. Group homes at Bethesda, Walter Reed, the VA, Dover Air Force Base, and more than 50 locations across the country provide a comfortable place for loved ones to live while remaining close to their injured family member.

“Our listeners step up year after year,” said WMAL Program Director Bill Hess. “Their response to our talent and the stories of these heroes and their families is incredibly rewarding."
