Madison Radio: John Sylvester Returns To Mornings On WWHG

Sly
One of Madison's most popular radio personalities is back in the saddle for the morning drive, according to Madison.com.

John "Sly" Sylvester hit the air at 6 a.m. Monday on WWHG 105.9 FM The Hog, based in Janesville, part of Scott Thompson's Big Radio group of eight southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois radio stations.

The daily "Sly in the Morning" will be rock music and healthy doses of Sly, including the classic "Social Dilemma."

"He's been a staple in Wisconsin radio for more than 30 years," said Ben Thompson, market manager of Big Radio, in a news release on Monday. "With his influence on Madison morning radio, it only seems natural to put him back where he belongs, in the mornings."

Sly is also continuing to do his afternoon drive time talk show on The Big FM 93.7 in Monroe and The Big AM 1380 in Beloit, which he started doing in February 2013 after his long stint at Madison's news talk station WTDY ended in November 2012 when the station's format changed.

"Sly's success and huge following on his previous morning radio show in Madison, even 20 years after the fact, is a testament to his creative and engaging style as a morning rock jock," Thompson said.
