Miami Radio: Betty Pino Died From Butt Surgery Complications

Betty Pino
After two months of her passing, it is finally known what caused Betty Pino's death.

According to Latin Times, the beloved radio personality known for being the voice of WAMR Amor 107.5 FM in Florida and the "godmother" to many Latin artists' careers, died of complications as doctors tried to remove silicone from her body, an autopsy report reveals.

Back in June, the radio personality had undergone a surgery to remove silicone from her butt, which she had injected four years ago. A month later, she was diagnosed with sepsis. Her body began to decompose, and the doctors had to amputate her hands and feet. But she was already in a coma.

She was 65 when she died. See original posting, Click Here.

Pino was a host of a weekly show on the Miami radio station where she played the latest hit songs and the latest celebrity gossip. When she first arrived to the U.S. she was a maid for an upscale hotel and made her way to a receptionist position at the station where she would have the opportunity to become a DJ. In 1974, she started her career as a radio DJ on the now defunct FM-92 where she became the first woman disc-jockey in the south of Florida.
