In a move that surprised many in the radio industry, CBS Radio senior VP of programming Greg Strassell exited his position on Monday after more than 15 years with the company.

According to Billboard, during his time at CBS Strassell oversaw many format changes at CBS Radio, including the addition of a second mainstream top 40 station in such markets as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston.

Strassell is an award-winning program director at CBS' Boston stations, including classic hits (and later mainstream top 40) WODS, classic rock WZLX and adult top 40 WBMX.

During his time there he won awards for "Station Of The Year" and "Program Director Of The Year." In 2012, Strassell was awarded "Corporate Senior Programmer Of The Year" at the Worldwide Radio Summit.
