FCC Okays Cumulus Acquiring 94.7 FM NYC

If you’ve been wondering how soon the format will be flipping at WFME 94.7 FM, the FCC has given its okay to the $40M dollar deal announced a few months ago.  The deal has Cumulus buying the Newark, NJ licensed facility from Family Stations.

So how soon can a change be expected?  Well, not until more bureaucratic maneuvering.

The FCC still needs to okay a waiver needed by Family to takeover WDVY 106.3 FM (Mount Kisco).  WDVY would replace WFME with Family Station content in the NYC metro area.

As for what format to expect on 94.7 FM, the speculation continues on the Radio Discussion message board. Click Here

However, a recurring guess is “Nash FM”..a new national format being developed by the Cumulus programming trust.
