Diddy Trial: Prosecution Is Expected To Rest Case Tuesday

The Sean "Diddy" Combs trial Monday, focused on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution, continued into its seventh week.

The prosecution was nearing the end of its case, with testimony from Joseph Cerciello, a special agent with Homeland Security Investigations, being a key focus. Cerciello, the 34th and final prosecution witness, presented evidence including text messages, American Express bills, and other records to demonstrate Combs' alleged orchestration of a criminal enterprise involving coercion and abuse.
The court adjourned early due to a juror falling ill with vertigo symptoms, which delayed proceedings. This juror's condition prompted discussions about their potential replacement, though no final decision was reported that day.

The prosecution indicated they expected to rest their case on Tuesday, after concluding Cerciello’s testimony. The defense planned to cross-examine Cerciello, followed by a motion for a directed verdict of acquittal, which would occur without the jury present. The defense stated they would not call witnesses but intended to introduce exhibits. Closing arguments were scheduled for June 26, 2025, with each side allotted approximately four hours.

The trial is at a pivotal point, with the prosecution having called multiple witnesses over prior weeks, including former assistants, ex-girlfriends like Cassie Ventura and "Jane," and federal agents, to build their case that Combs ran a criminal enterprise involving coerced sexual activities, dubbed "freak-offs." Combs has pleaded not guilty, with his defense arguing that all sexual activities were consensual.

No specific new witness testimony began on June 23 due to the adjournment, but the day was marked by procedural developments and the continuation of Cerciello’s evidence presentation.
