R.I.P.: Kelly McCoy, Chattanooga Radio Personality

Radio personality Kelly McCoy has died at the age of 58. She was both the program director at Classic Rock WSKZ KZ106.5 FM and the host of the mid-day show at the station.

Here in Chattanooga the radio career spanned 35 years.

He started with Chattanooga’s first newsradio station, WZRA. McCoy worked at WGOW-AM before moving to KZ-106, where he hosted its Mid Day Show for two decades.

Scott Chase, Cumulus Operations Manager and co-worker, said, “Kelly McCoy was a much-loved radio personality and colleague, and we mourn her loss and extend our deepest condolences to her family.” Set a benchmark for music radio host in Chattanooga. He will be remembered with fondness.”
