Boston Radio: Ken Laird Named OM At Audacy's WEEI-FM

On the job since August 2021, Jeff Richard is out as program director at Audacuy's sports WEEI 93.7 FM.  In his place the station has promoted Ken Laird to the position of Operations Manager.

The change was first reported by columnist Chadd Finn at Boston.com:

Jeff Rickard
Richard joined WEEI-FM last August arriving from Emmis' WFNI-in Indianapolis. Richard started with Emmis as a part-time host and programming advisor before being tapped to take over programming duties full time in August of 2018. Rickard began hosting the Fan Morning Show in May of 2019.

Prior to joining WFNI, Rickard has hosted shows regularly on a number of Sirius XM’s sports channels, including NFL Radio, ESPNU, MLB Network Radio, Mad Dog Sports Radio and Fantasy Sports radio.

Rickard’s first major programming job came in Salt Lake City where he led KKFN to consistent ratings and revenue success.

Ken Laird
Laird has been Assistant Brand Manager since Rickard's arrival at WEEI-FM.

Laird broke into radio as an intern at WEEI in 2001. After graduating, Laird moved to Pittsburgh and climbed the ladder at ESPN Radio 1250, eventually hosting a nightly talk show while covering the Steelers and Penguins. Also served as ESPN’s national Steelers correspondent during this time.

In 2011, Laird joined the Pittsburgh Tribune Review as a reporter and daily web-radio host on TribLIVE Radio.

He then re-joined WEEI, holding various producer and contributor roles before eventually becoming morning drive executive producer and update anchor.
