NBC will broadcast 12 events including the three FedEx Cup events – the FedEx St. Jude Championship (Aug. 11-14); BMW Championship (Aug. 18-21) and Tour Championship (Aug. 25-28). The conclusion of the 2021-22 season will be the first time since it was introduced in 2007 that every FedEx Cup event will be broadcast on the same network. CBS will televise the FedEx Cup in 2023.
NBC will air The Players Championship that concludes on March 13. NBC Sports, through its Golf Channel, is the cable provider of early round coverage for all 22 events. The Arnold Palmer Invitational played at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill & Lodge in Orlando is a staple event on the tour.
Meanwhile, CBS and ESPN will combine to broadcast the Masters and the PGA Championship. NBC and USA Network will air the U.S. Open and The Open Championship. The four major championships are not considered PGA Tour events and are under separate television deals.
The PGA Sentry Tournament of Champions (Jan. 6-9) will mark the first event that PGA Tour Live will be streamed on ESPN+. The streaming service will provide 4,000 hours of live coverage annually from 30 events during the remaining portion of the 2021-22 season.
“We are thrilled to announce our 2022 domestic coverage schedule for the PGA Tour as the lineup we have in place will ultimately be a significant win for our fans as we expand and innovate our content and its delivery going forward,” said Rick Anderson, PGA Tour chief media officer, in a statement. “Our existing partners CBS Sports and NBC Sports share our vision for the future and we are equally excited to be teaming with Disney and ESPN+ for what we see as an unparalleled opportunity to grow and diversify our fan base.”
