ESPN Radio Reports Audience, TSL Growth


In August, ESPN Radio experienced double-digit audience growth of 10 percent year over year on terrestrial radio in PPM markets among men 25-54. The significant increase was driven by a 16 percent gain in time spent listening for that same demographic.

ESPN Radio’s marquee morning show Golic and Wingo continued the success in August with a 19 percent year-over-year audience increase for the month on terrestrial radio in PPM markets with M25-54. Across all platforms, the show saw a 2 percent annual increase for the same demographic. From July 2019, the show was also up 11 percent on terrestrial radio complementing the year-over-year growth. Golic and Wingo also enjoyed local audience increases on 13 ESPN Radio stations including Columbus, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Houston.

ESPN Radio’s listenership increases on terrestrial radio in PPM markets (M25-54) in August continued with its afternoon studio programming as well. The Stephen A. Smith show saw year-over-year growth of 6 percent from August 2018. The show also saw significant audience increases on local ESPN Radio stations in Dallas and Phoenix. Capping the afternoon lineup, The Will Cain Show – which launched locally on ESPN LA 710 on September 3 – nationally experienced a year-over-year increase of 131 percent in August and was up 25 percent over the previous month (July 2019) on terrestrial radio in PPM markets.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz followed its trend of television simulcast success seeing a viewership gain of 24 percent year over year among M25-54 on ESPNEWS. It also saw double- and triple-digit year-over-year audience percentage increases with local terrestrial ESPN Radio stations in Miami, Chicago and Las Vegas.
