Entercom Communications has announced the appointment of Alex Silverman to the role of Program Director for Newsradio KYW 1060 AM in Philadelphia, effective September 24.

Silverman joined Entercom in 2011 as an anchor for WCBS Newsradio 880 and has since helped lead the station’s coverage of major news events in New York and around the country, including Hurricane Sandy, the Boston Marathon bombings and the Orlando nightclub shooting. He received a 2018 National Edward R. Murrow Award for his coverage of the transportation crisis in New York.

Silverman is currently the Industry Representative to the Board of Directors for WJPZ Radio in Syracuse, where he provides operational, financial and technical oversight for Syracuse University’s student-run radio station. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Fordham University, where he designed a course titled “Social Media for Journalists.”
