NYC Radio: Don Imus Rips Mike Francesa Replacements

Former WFAN hosts Don Imus and Sid Rosenberg aren't impressed with the station's Mike Francesa replacements.

The Daily News had reported that when Francesa leaves the WFAN airwaves in December he'll be replaced by Chris Carlin, Bart Scott and Maggie Gray.

Imus and Rosenberg talked about their dissatisfaction with the move on WABC Tuesday morning.

"It's just funny because they had this extensive search and tryouts and all these names, in the end they took someone doing the CBS show Saturday mornings, they took Carlin who's been around for 20 years and is Mike's old whipping boy, and they took Bart Scott who's hanging around doing the Jets," Rosenberg said. "Doesn't seem like they went out of the box and grabbed somebody different."

Rosenberg went on to take credit for Carlin having a career. Carlin took over for Rosenberg on the Giants pregame show after he was fired for making crude remarks about Kylie Minogue's cancer diagnosis.

Imus also joked that Michael Kay, the host of ESPN Radio New York's afternoon show and WFAN's competition, is likely "very, very happy" with the news of Francesa's replacements.

Rosenberg was reportedly considered for the WFAN job, but he's still under contract at WABC. He added the trio will be "holding the job until I get there in 2019."
