Dorwart posted on his Facebook page Tuesday that he was dismissed. He added it was unexpected.
“Imagine my surprise at finding myself ‘restructured’ after 25 years as program director of WOKV.” said Dorwart, who has been with the broadcast operation since 1989.
In an email to the Times-Union, Dorwart acknowledged it’s difficult to accept he’s out of a job.
“It was a shock, to say the least. Frankly, it hasn’t quite fully set in,” Dorwart said. “I have nothing but positive things to say about my 25 years at WOKV, where I had the honor of working with so many talented people and building something great that the listeners of Jacksonville can rely on every day.”
“I have no idea what our future holds, but we trust in God’s wisdom to lead us to the right path forward,” Dorwart said. “Taking these first days to unwind and get organized.”
This is the second significant personnel change at the station in the past year.
In November, long-time morning news on-air anchor Roxy Tyler was terminated from the station. She had been with the station since 1995.
