Westwood One Launches Classic Hits-Rock Format

Westwood One announced Tuesday the introduction of a second version of its popular Classic Hits format that features rock music from the 60s, 70s and 80s, without the dance, R&B and Motown.

Classic Hits-Rock will launched Tuesday.

“Depending on the musical heritage of a market, we found that affiliates either wanted a version that included just the rock and pop hits, or one that covered the whole spectrum,” commented Kirk Stirland, President of Programming at Westwood One.  “Now, with these two recipes, we’ll be able to provide stations with the winning mix, whatever the opportunity in their market.”

Classic Hits will continue to feature a broad mix of rock & roll, pop and soul hits, where the new Classic Hits-Rock will offer the rock and pop, without the rhythmic music from the era.  Both are available as complete turn-key Total formats, and Classic Hits can also be fully customized as a Local format.  They are fully hosted, with a contemporary presentation.

Exclusive affiliation is available by contacting Pat Crocker, at pcrocker@westwoodone.com, or (720) 873-5170.
