The co-host of the station’s “Morning Magic” and “Exceptional Women” shows, O’Terry’s contract was up and she declined a new, two-year offer.
Instead, she’s planning to pursue other projects, including a children’s book written with her daughter and a CD. “I never can sit still for long and I love radio way too much to leave it for long,” O’Terry said in a statement. “I just won’t be getting up at 3:30 a.m. anymore.”
Greater Media has been going through a Spring cleaning this month. Last week, it's Country WKLB 102.5 FM, parted company with longtime afternoon host Steve Kelly and nighttime DJ Keith Stephens.
Kelly had been with WKLB for after 17-years and Stephens had 14-years with WKLB.
Meanwhile in May, co-hosts Candy O’Terry will receive Gracie Allen Awards from the Alliance For Women in Media in the categories of Portrait/Biography series and Best Soft News feature for “Love Is All Around”, a series about three Boston based charities: Love Lane Special Needs Horseback Riding Program, Lucy’s Love Bus and Lovin’ Spoonfuls.
Created by O’Terry in 1992, the Exceptional Women show has now earned a total of 23 Gracies and 20 other local and national awards for excellence in women’s programming. The show airs on Sunday mornings on WMJX-FM/Magic 106.7 at 7:30am and profiles inspiring women.
Candy, Sue and their producer Tina Gao will accept their awards at the annual Gracies Luncheon to be held in New York City on June 22nd, 2015.
