R.I.P.: Longtime ND Radio Personality Bob Sands

Bob Sands
Long time Classic Country KSJB 600 AM in Jamestown, ND announcer Bob Sands has passed away.

He was 73-years-of-age.

Sands had been with KSJB since 2003, with 40+ years in the radio business Bob had career stops at KBMR in Bismarck, ND & Spokane, WA.

“We’re all in a little bit of shock here,” said KSJB General Manager and Vice President Patrick Pfeiffer.

Sands, born Robert Urry in Whitefish Bay, WI, worked for about 20 years at a 50,000-watt station in Spokane, Wash., before taking a job in Bismarck and eventually coming to Jamestown in March 2003. Pfeiffer said off air, Sands was humble and just a friendly guy, which carried over into his broadcasting. Sands worked the 2 to 6 p.m. shift on the classic country radio station. Pfeiffer said Sands “provided a real cordial, relaxing afternoon of music day in and day out.”

Pfeiffer said Sands was very passionate about the history and artists of country music.
