University of Houston football games will move this fall to Clear Channel Communications’ KPRC 950 AM, the university and station said Monday.
The Houston Chronicle reports UH football games in recent years have aired on KBME 790 AM, which also airs Astros and Rockets games plus Texas A&M football and basketball games. That resulted in occasional time conflicts that require moving UH game broadcasts to other Clear Channel-owned stations, and school officials said the football move to 950 AM “offers UH fans a consistent spot on their radio dial.”
“We have a home Houston fans know they can turn to when the Cougars are in action without being affected by the schedules of any other organization,” Mack Rhoades, the school’s athletic director, said in a university statement.
Returning on UH football broadcasts this fall will be play-by-play announcer Kevin Eschenfelder, analyst Ted Pardee, sideline reporter Jeremy Branham and pregame host Matt Thomas. Thomas and Elvin Hayes will return on UH men’s basketball games, which moved to 950 AM a year ago.
