Report: FOX News Again top CableTV News Network


Fox News was the top cable news network for the first quarter of 2014, averaging 1,804,000 viewers in primetime and 1,099,000 viewers in total day. According to TV Newser, Fox News placed fifth in primetime and fourth in total day among all ad-supported cable networks for the quarter.

Compared to Q1 2013, Fox News was up +3% in total viewers and +5% in A25-54 viewers in total day. In primetime, the network was up +4% and +5%, respectively.

Megyn Kelly and Sean Hannity are boosting viewership in their new timeslots: “The Kelly File” is up +15% in total viewers and 4% in the demo and “Hannity” is up +16% and +2%, respectively, compared to the year-ago quarter’s 9pm and 10pmET programming.

MSNBC placed 27th in primetime and 28th in total day for the quarter, averaging 683,000 primetime viewers and 394,000 total day viewers. CNN placed 35th in primetime and 30th in total day, delivering 498,000 and 393,000 viewers, respectively.

USA Network, ESPN, TBS and the History Channel rounded out the top five networks in primetime for the quarter.
