Opinion: C’mon Dallas! Where’s the Love?

From Mike Stern, talentmechanic.com
There are so many good side-stories that grew out of the Dallas Mavericks defeating LeBron James and the Miami Heat to win the NBA championship.
For example:
  • The team, including usually quiet star Dirk Nowitzki, usually loud owner Mark Cuban, cut loose at a Miami night club Sunday night where they danced and drank an $80,000 bottle of champagne with the championship trophy in tow. (Thanks to TMZ for having such great photographers)
  • The state of Ohio named the Mavericks honorary citizens for beating down King James.
  • Mark Cuban hinted that he might not order championship rings for his team claiming to have something else in mind.
  • And there’s always the fake coughing incident and James’ terrible remarks at the press conference.
These are the type of stories even non-sports fans enjoy. They may not want to hear analysis of Jason Terry in the pick-and-roll but this stuff is fun.
So imagine my surprise when I punched in to a number of different Dallas radio stations today and heard about none of it.
I checked out a wide variety of music stations in the market and heard the same production that runs every Monday.
If it had been a game the Mavericks would have gotten their collective butts kicked by commercial-free music sweeps.
No one talked about any of the stories I mentioned above.
