LA Radio: WGUO Adds Bobby 'Da Cajun' Richard

Radio personality Bobby “Da Cajun” Richard will return to the air waves this weekend on Houma-based Gumbo WGUO 94.9 FM, according to  houmatoday.com.

Bobby Richard
Richard’s well-known radio shows, Swamp Pop and French Mornings, were cut from his previous radio station, Country KCIL 96.7 FM earlier this month after more than 13 years on the air. (See Original Posting: Click Here.)

They got their wish Monday morning when Gumbo 94.9 deejay Jan Jackson announced the station would begin offering the shows Easter weekend.

Richard, who owns all the records he plays on the air, said the shows will be the same as they’ve always been.

Though he’s taken advantage of one of his first vacations in over a decade, Richard, 62, said he’s excited to be back on the air.

Joe Darden, Gumbo 94.9 general manager, said Richard’s supporters have been calling the station since news of the radio shows’ cancellation broke more than a week ago.

Darden said he and the station’s other staff members felt Richard’s show would be a great addition.

“He’ll be a great fit,” Darden said. “We’re very happy for him to come aboard.”

Richard will be on the air 5-10 a.m. on Saturdays and 7-10 a.m. on Sundays.
