VA / MD Radio: WVRC To Acquire Prettyman Cluster

West Virginia Radio Corporation has entered into a purchase agreement with Prettyman Broadcasting to acquire three radio stations based out of Martinsburg in the eastern panhandle.

The stations are Sports WEPM 1340 AM ESPN and AC WLTF 97.5 FM, both licensed to Martinsburg, and Country WICL 95.9 FM, which is licensed to Williamsport, Maryland.

In making the announcement, West Virginia Radio Corporation president Dale Miller said, “We have been interested in expanding our operations in the eastern panhandle for years, and this acquisition provides us with the best radio signals covering West Virginia’s fastest growing region.”

Miller also announced that WVRC began programming operations at the Martinsburg cluster on Saturday, November 1st, under a local market agreement with Prettyman Broadcasting until the application to reassign the channels is granted by the Federal Communications Commission.

Greer Industries Chairman John Raese said that this is another example of the radio division “reinvesting in West Virginia.”

Andrew Powaski has been appointed market manager for the Martinsburg stations in addition to his duties at the six-station WVRC cluster in Cumberland, Maryland.

West Virginia Radio Corporation owns and operates 31-stations in West Virginia and Maryland.  The firm also operates the 62-station METRONEWS Radio Network and Pikewood Creative, a high-end video postproduction house located in Morgantown.
