Deadline For Disney, YouTubeTV Approaching

YouTube TV subscribers could lose access to Disney channels after 11:59 p.m. EDT Thursday if the companies fail to renew their carriage deal.

YouTube accused Disney of demanding "costly economic terms" that would raise prices and limit choices for its customers while favoring Disney's own services like Hulu + Live TV and the upcoming Fubo partnership. It promised a $20 credit to subscribers if Disney content remains unavailable for an extended period.

Disney countered that YouTube's parent company Google is "exploiting its position at the expense of their own customers."

Earlier this year, YouTubeTV Disagreements with Paramount, Fox, and NBCUniversal was resolved just before deadlines, but the TelevisaUnivision dispute caused its Spanish-language channels to go dark on September 30.

Disney previously pulled content from YouTube TV in 2021 after failing to reach a deal.

The service, a leading cable alternative with about 10 million subscribers to traditional TV packages per the Los Angeles Times, charges a base price of $82.99 per month.
