Sactown Radio: Jim Richmond New SVP/MM for Bonneville

Bonneville International has named Jim Richmond as Senior Vice President and Market Manager for its four-station cluster in Sacramento filling a leadership vacancy created by Steve Cottingim's retirement earlier this year.

The announcement positions Richmond to oversee operations at the market's stations, which include News/Talk 1530 KFBK, AC 93.7 KBZY, Country 101.9 KUDL, and Classic Hits 100.5 KRRT. These outlets serve the Sacramento region with a mix of news, music, and community-focused programming, emphasizing Bonneville's mission to "build up, connect, inform, and celebrate communities."

Richmond, a veteran radio executive with over 30 years of experience, joins Sacramento from Bonneville's Seattle cluster, where he served as Director of Sales since 2020.

Jim Richmond
His career began in Seattle 32 years ago, and he has held progressive leadership positions, including at Journal Communications, showcasing strong business acumen and team-building skills.

Bonneville President and COO Tanya Vea praised the hire, stating, “This market has a great lineup of stations, a strong digital sales business, and wonderful employees. Jim has shown himself to be an excellent leader, and his background is the perfect fit. I’m confident that he will build on the strengths of the market, developing the business and the culture at Bonneville Sacramento.”

Richmond, who will report to Executive VP of Regional Media Operations Scott Sutherland, added, “I’m honored to join the Sacramento team. These stations have a meaningful connection to the community, and I look forward to supporting our people, growing our digital presence, and serving listeners wherever they are across every platform with purpose and innovation.”

Since Cottingim's departure in April 2025, San Francisco SVP/Market Manager Val Maki had been interim overseer for Sacramento. Bonneville, a subsidiary of Deseret Management Corporation (owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), operates 22 radio stations across six markets, including clusters in Seattle, Phoenix, Denver, San Francisco, and its Salt Lake City headquarters. The company acquired the Sacramento stations outright in 2018 for $141 million as part of divestitures from Entercom's merger with CBS Radio.
