Cable Holiday Movies Are Going Country

Hallmark Channel and Lifetime are doubling down on country vibes in their 2025 holiday lineups, infusing small-town ranches, rodeos, and Nashville twang into feel-good Christmas romances amid economic shifts like Amazon's recent corporate cuts.

Hallmark's "Countdown to Christmas" (kicking off October 18) delivers 24 new movies with Western flair, while Lifetime's "It's a Wonderful Lifetime" (starting November 29) offers 12 originals blending rural redemption and country music soul.

Premieres are in ET/PT, streaming next day on Hallmark+ or Lifetime's app—perfect escapism as holiday spending tightens.

Hallmark's Country Standouts:
  • A Grand Ole Opry Christmas (November 29, 8 p.m.): Nikki DeLoach, Kristoffer Polaha, and Rob Mayes star in a time-travel tale where a songwriter (DeLoach) confronts her late country icon father's legacy at Nashville's Opry House, featuring Brad Paisley's original songs and cameos from Megan Moroney and Rhett Akins. It's a boot-stomping nod to the Opry's 100th anniversary.
  • A Royal Montana Christmas (October 18, 8 p.m.): Fiona Gubelmann plays a princess fleeing to a rugged Montana ranch, sparking romance with a local guide (Warren Christie) amid snowy trails and holiday traditions—pure frontier fairy tale.
Lifetime's Country Gems:
  • Thank God: Christmas at Keller Ranch (December 6, 8 p.m.): Executive produced by Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown, this faith-fueled romance follows a prodigal son returning to the family ranch for redemption, inspired by the couple's hit duet—think heartfelt country ballads and holiday healing.
  • Rodeo Christmas Romance (December 13, 8 p.m.): Rebecca Dalton and Corey Sevier lead as a feisty equestrian and a veteran ranch-sitter clashing (then connecting) during a holiday rodeo stint, complete with dusty trails and festive flings.
These picks channel Americana heart amid broader cost-conscious trends, from Amazon's layoffs to streamlined slates (Hallmark down to 24 films from 40+ last year).

For extras, UPtv's Christmas in Big Sky Country (December 14, 7 p.m.) adds Montana ranch romance with Rebecca Dalton.
