CNN launched CNN All Access Tuesday, a $6.99/month ($41.99/year introductory) direct-to-consumer streaming service offering the live CNN cable feed, CNN International, on-demand originals like Have I Got News For You, a Headline News-style channel, curated clips, and full cnn.com access—its second attempt at a standalone subscription product after the $300 million CNN+ flop.
Unlike 2022’s CNN+, which excluded the live cable feed due to distributor pushback and was axed after three weeks by new owner Warner Bros. Discovery, All Access consolidates existing CNN content with the flagship linear channel to target cord-cutters.
CEO Mark Thompson, hired in 2023 to stabilize the network after Chris Licht’s turbulent tenure, called it an “experiment” needing “patience,” aiming for millions of subscribers long-term but offering no specific targets.
The launch comes as cable subscriptions—CNN’s core revenue source—plummet, intensifying pressure to offset losses amid potential ownership changes at parent Warner Bros. Discovery.
