Bert Weiss, the longtime host of the Atlanta-based syndicated morning show The Bert Show, retired from daily radio broadcasting after its final episode aired last Friday, marking the end of a 25-year run that began in 2001 on Q99.7 (WWWQ) and expanded to over two dozen markets nationwide.
The show's conclusion was an emotional milestone, featuring a surprise in-studio visit from Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, who presented Weiss with a proclamation honoring his contributions to the city's cultural landscape.
While Weiss has stepped away from the morning drive format, he's far from idle in "retirement." His immediate and ongoing focus includes:
✔Expanding Bert’s Big Adventure: The nonprofit he founded in 2005, which has provided all-expenses-paid trips to Walt Disney World for hundreds of children with chronic or terminal illnesses and their families, will remain a top priority. Weiss has emphasized its continuation and plans to use his freed-up time to promote upcoming events, including a special send-off broadcast from Disney World to keep the organization's mission alive on air (with station support for occasional spots).

✔Personal pursuits and community involvement: Weiss has spoken about embracing a slower pace—think beach walks without an alarm clock—while staying active in Atlanta's philanthropic scene. He's already lined up as a 2025 Atlanta Airport Ambassador and plans to continue galvanizing his loyal listener "family" for causes, drawing on the show's history of massive community turnouts (like the infamous Six Flags promotion that gridlocked the city).
In interviews leading up to and following the finale, Weiss described feeling "tremendous joy and gratitude," crediting his audience's loyalty for the show's longevity—a rarity in radio.
Cumulus Media's Chief Content Officer Brian Philips echoed this, calling Weiss's era a "historic chapter" and predicting he'll approach this next phase with his trademark "wild, fun originality." Fans can still catch The Bert Show archives via podcast platforms
