KNX-AM (Los Angeles), WWJ-AM (Detroit) and WCCO-AM (Minneapolis) were awarded a National Association of Broadcasters’ (NAB) Crystal Radio Award Tuesday at the NAB Show Radio luncheon in Las Vegas, Nev. This is the second Crystal Radio Award for all three stations – KNX-AM, WWJ-AM and WCCO-AM won previously in 2001, 2014 and 1994.
Since 1987, the Crystal Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service. Andre Fernandez, President, CBS RADIO and Scott Herman, Chief Operating Officer, CBS RADIO were on hand to accept the award on behalf of the station.
“Year after year, CBS RADIO stations have been recognized by the National Association of Broadcasters with this prestigious award,” said Fernandez. “We are truly honored by the numerous distinctions and couldn’t be more proud of KNX, WWJ and WCCO and the great work they do in and around their local markets. Congratulations to KNX, WWJ and WCCO.”
KNX-AM, WWJ-AM and WCCO-AM were one of fifty NAB Crystal Radio Award finalists selected by a panel of judges representing broadcasting, community service organizations and public relations firms. Eight CBS RADIO stations were nominated this year, and ten winners were chosen among 50 finalists at the NAB Show Radio. Several CBS RADIO stations having been honored previously, including 1010 WINS and KYW-AM.
