Westwood One Sports Covers Sweet 16/Elite 8 Action

Westwood One Sports’ provided exclusive audio coverage of the NCAA tournament’s Sweet 16 and Elite 8 broadcasts this past weekend.

North Carolina’s senior guard Marcus Paige joined Westwood One Sports’ Tom McCarthy and Hall of Fame Coach John Thompson for some postgame conversation following the Tar Heels defeat of Notre Dame. North Carolina secured the last spot in the Final Four, their 19th Final Four appearance.

Longtime Syracuse Coach Jim Boeheim stops by to talk to Westwood One Sports’ Gary Cohen and Jim Jackson following his team’s upset over #1 Virginia to make it to the Final Four. This is the 6th Final Four appearance for Syracuse; the 5th trip for Boeheim as a head coach, but he was also an assistant on the 1975 team that was the first Syracuse team to go to the Final Four. It’s also the first time in tournament history that a #10 seed has made it to the Final Four.

After Syracuse beat Gonzaga 63-60 and moved on to the Elite 8, senior Trevor Cooney stopped by Westwood One Sports for a postgame conversation. Fun fact: Cooney now gets to make his second appearance at a Final Four; his first was during his freshman year. It’s the first time a Syracuse player has appeared twice in a Final Four.
