Every day at 12:30 p.m. for the past 61 years, Maxine Humphries delivered news on WGRV 1340 AM to Greene County, Tennessee.

"I just know that it's time," Humphries says.

Humphries announced Tuesday that she's leaving the radio business. She considered retiring twice before, but this time, it's for real. "The third time's a charm," she says.

Over the years, she's become a part of the lives and deaths of her audience when reading birth announcements and obituaries.

Humphries says her official last day on the radio will be June 17. That day, during her regular show, Greene County will hear her sign-off for the final time.
