Jersey 101.5 FM WKXW Trenton announced Friday that PM drivers Casey Bartholomew and Ray Rossi’s contracts are not being renewed and will no longer be heard in the afternoon. New Jersey 101.5 wishes "nothing but the best for them in the future and thank them for their service".

Many longtime listeners will remember that “The Deminski and Doyle Show” was a very popular afternoon program on the station from 1993 to 1999 with consistent #1 ratings—and very strong appeal with both men and women.
In 1999, Jeff & Bill left The Garden State and had a very successful run in Detroit. Now they are ready to come home!
Program Director Eric Johnson comments; “The Deminski & Doyle Show will continue New Jersey 101.5’s 21 year commitment of talking about the challenges and fun of everyday life in New Jersey! We are thrilled to have them back!”
I always enjoyed listening to the Jersey Guys and thought that they were funny and courageous for standing up to a lot of blowhards from the public unions. Those unions need to mind their own business and leave creatives as Casey and Rossi the hell alone.
ReplyDeleteI'll give these guys a shot, but will miss Casey & Ray a lot. I didn't agree with them on everything (esp. the massive amounts of sexism), but as a teacher who opts NOT to teach in the public school system, I applaud their efforts to deliver insightful facts and truth about Unions, etc. I hope these guys aren't wishy-washy or a bunch of brain-washed morons, like a good amount of media personnell today.

NJ101.5 the worst radio station on earth. NJ deserves better. New Jerseyans are dumb because they listen to this radio station. Coverage of NJ on the NY stations are better than our own stations. 101.5 should change their format to music so we don't have to listen to losers, misfits and clowns. D&D will be no better. When they were on 101.5 in the 90's they were just as bad as the past hosts. In one week you will hate them. Wake up EJ and 101.5 and give us a quality station.

ReplyDeleteThis station has a habit of bringing back the a-holes that they fire. D & D were no better than this jerk Casey. Rossi was the better of the two. Such a pity, this station could be great for NJ but they keep hiring djs like Casey. I am sure he will rehired.

ReplyDeleteI'll give D&D a shot, but the BEST show 101.5 has is Dennis and Judi. They have real on-air chemistry, and can make each other laugh -- which in turn makes you laugh.
I am also sorry about Ray Rossi having to go. I did stop listening after 2pm because I could not take Casey. The only person that he made laugh was himself. He tried to hard to be Craig Carton (loved him with Ray) I will continue to listen to Jim in the morning (great host) and I love Dennis & Judy (they are FUNNY)
ReplyDeleteAgree with the last comment. Casey was a pale next to Carton. He was much better when he was paired with Scott several years ago. Ray is a mensch and I'm sorry to see him go. He was much better paired with Carton, who was actually funny. Dennis and Judi are and will continue to be the best team on the station.

ReplyDeleteThe Jersey Guys had a lot of informative NJ talk mixed in with their offbeat BS. Always amazed me how many NJ residents that called in have no clue about and are so ill informed as to what is actually happening in this state. Casey and Rossi for the most part told it as it is. I enjoyed them for what they were as a show together much more than apart. Good luck guys!

Glad to see them go. The audio or video of them being told would be priceless. Imagine the money they made for only 5 hrs per day (25 hrs per week)

ReplyDeleteI'll miss Casey and Rossi. I didn't always agree with Casey but at least he wasn't a foul-mouthed pig like Craig Carton. Carton was so bad with the boob jokes and the sexual comments that I couldn't listen with my kid in the car. Casey was over the top at times, but the topics they discussed were always ones I found relevant. These two ... not so much.

ReplyDeletei have been listening to the station for years...loved carton n rossi, i really miss that pair! casey gave me a headache, couldnt take listening to him for more than a minute, why did he feel like he had to scream at us all afternoon!and i didnt care for the way he talked down to rossi, who actually seems like a nice guy. never listened to the new guys, but maybe my commute home will now be entertaining! love u dennis and judi!!!!!

I personally will miss listenng to Casey & Rossi on my drive home. I learned so much from them about what is going on in this country and especially NJ. They told us the truth about what was going on where others only told you what they wanted you to hear or know about and this includes newspapers. They got people to fight for their rights and looked up and knew all the facts and statistics. Who on radio does that? I will miss them & hope they show up on another radio station. I'm done with 101.5. Casey and Rossi shouldn't listen to the people who are glad you are gone, they are probably the teachers and unions who you informed us all about. Thanks to the two of you Christie has changed that. You should be proud. Miss you guys already. Sorry I never called in but, I was always drivng home and I don't talk on the phone and drive as you also made people aware not to do. Thanks and God speed.

ReplyDeleteIt will be nice to have calmer voices on the radio. It seems Deminski & Doyle actually listen to their callers. I have enjoyed listening to them the last few days. Thank you NJ 101.5 for giving us releif from the "Jersey Guys". I do not think we have to depict our state and our residents with such brash and outlandish characters anymore. It will be nice to have actual entertainment that does not entail causing a fight during every broadcast.
ReplyDeleteCasey's personality was like fingernails on a chalkboard, as opposed to Ray's laidback approach to the issues. Casey alienated so many of the station's listeners that it's no surprise he was given the boot. He was rude and disrespectful to the people who called in to voice their opinions. (The people who basically paid his salary.) I was also tired of hearing his daughter's voice as the spokesman for 1(800)STORAGE. Too bad Ray was the collateral damage, because he's a decent guy with a great laugh. I hope he lands on his feet, because he's way too young to retire. Casey should go back to CA. Maybe that coast would welcome his condescending style.

I'm not listening to 101.5 aqain. Just when you start enjoying a show they pull it as always. I remember liking Dom an Doy back when they were on but now that they are booting the Jersey Guys off I dont like them at all and wont even give them a chance. BRING BACK THE JERSEY GUYS !!!

ReplyDeleteI am sorry to see the Jersey Guys go. I remember D&D from the past and didn't like them. Deminski was rude to me when I called in once. So if he didn't have the decency to listen to me then, I will return the favor and ignore him now. Carton was too full of himself. I listen to Jim in the morning sometimes not so much because of the NJ government blah, blah, blah but because his wide-range vocabulary is so cool. Don't get to listen to Dennis & Judi much but glad that Michele Pilenza isn't there anymore -- she has a great voice for radio but not much personality - she's better for ads. Michele Jerson is great -- so totally tactful to goofballs for whom I would not have enough patience. Good luck, Jersey Guys. Life changes for the better most times. I hope you get a better offer elsewhere. As for me, I am now a full time KTU listener. Music gets me there faster and a lot calmer! :)

I continued to listen after Craig left and enjoyed Ray and Casey so now I am deprogramming the station off my radio and will return to MUSIC radio now that the station is selling out with these two boring hosts once again! Casey and Rossi found a way to MOTIVATE and EDUCATE the common resident in ways NO OTHER RADIO PERSONALITY HAD EVER FATHOMED !!! The JERSEY GUYS encouraged NJ residents to PAY ATTENTION and STAND UP to the political process! I would definitely reconsider their dismissal as their audience is and will remain loyal!

ReplyDeleteA few weeks before I told my son Casey should be fired and Ray be given his own show and glad it became true, Casey was ignorant, self-centered and arrogant. Ray was more apt to carry a conversation with the listener without being confrontational and I am glad they kept him and gave him the late show, good luck Ray!

Their two replacements are not only dull and lifeless, they are definitely not intersting to listen to. I forsee a dramatic decline in your listenership and ratings as a result of this move.

She was better than Judy and I really loved way back when she had her own show at night, I think it was called "Under the Boardwalk with Dena Blizzard" We could use some of her humor after snoozing in the afternoon and I can't take Michelle's annoying voice. I like to imitate her voice while I'm driving with the kids in the backseat, they think it's hysterical.

ReplyDelete101.5 needs a complete overhaul. I don't think the answer is to bring back anybody who was there before. The truly talented former staff members have moved on and have other jobs now. Bringing back the ones who can't get a job elsewhere doesn't make much sense; it's just the easy way out for management.
ReplyDeleteMaybe when Townsquare takes over they'll overhaul everything including management. The fish rots from the head down and management's complacency is reflected on the air. The station sounds like they've gotten lazy and just expect ratings to be good without having to put in any work. That may have been the case in the beginning, but now they sound stale.

He was ridiculous and depressing and i am sooo glad he is gone. Love Ray, glad to see he at least has the night shift! Judy is racist and her schtick is old and worn. She constantly cuts off Dennis and clearly Dennis is the more talented of the two. Dennis and Dina would be great together!!!! Sincere thanks for getting rid of Bartholomew. ReplyDeleteI remember and liked D & D but do think that something changed with Casey recently. No one was allowed to even talk and he was so angry at everyone if they disagreed. When a caller disagreed with him, he would resort to name calling and screaming. I am so not surprised because I had to stop listening to him because all he did was scream. Not scream about issues, but scream at callers in a way that I thought seemed like a mental unbalanced person. Glad Rossi is still on.
ReplyDeleteSorry but the "New" guys just don't seem to have it...(yet?). I happened to listen the other day and all I could hear was FORCED laughter from the main guy. Nerves?? He is professional no? It was pretty annoying. Also, why do the DJ's on this station seem to pick a topic and STAY ON THAT TOPIC far longer than need be? C'mon, an hour on "Should a guy pay for the meal on the first date? This was actually talked about for almost - if not - a complete hour?? Informative?? Fun?? I don't have a degree in communications, but I really think I could do better.. at times.

ReplyDeleteThe new guys are so boring I am replacing my afternoon drive with Bloomberg 1130AM. Casey and Rossi were silly, and Casey was majorly rude, but somehow that made him interesting. He would keep idiot callers inline when they weren't on topic and didn't know how to just spit it out on-air. Also, their "60 uninterrupted unmolested seconds" sessions were great. It really gave all these opinionated people a chance to see how poorly formed their opinions and arguments were.
ReplyDeleteI hope this review is taken seriously because I really am not trying to be mean nor was I a huge fan of Casey and Ray but I did find their show to be interesting whether it got on my nerves or made me laugh...it evoked SOME kind of emotion from me which Deminski and Doyle (while very nice)do not and I find them very uninteresting. I also feel like Deminski is a watered down version of Casey and I prefer the original. while annoying he did grown on me like fungus because he had so much conviction which D&D majorly lack.

ReplyDeleteD&D are boring. I'm sure that they will stick to nice semi-interesting topics that don't offend anyone. Why bring up any topics that would peak your emotions? I'm sure that the politicians and teachers union are happy. Who else was willing to expose their issues? Do you think they had anything to do with it?

Casey should come back and work with that comedian mom Dina. D&D not only are boring but they make my day feel so much loooooonger.I can not listen to this station anymore after 2. I know they are fathers and you can't throw them out on the street but you really have to have a talk with them about their subjects. Please Please do something, anything to make them more witty and interesting....this is very frustrating.
ReplyDeleteGoodbye Nj101.5! Big mistake pulling the Jersey Guys off........I will no longer listen at all! Once you pulled Carton, I cut my listening in less than half. Now I will not listen at all. How many times do you want to change this show? Each time you do, it gets worse! That Idiot Casey should have been replaced a LONG time ago. He was a complete MORON! Couldn't stand his voice or his personality but Ray was the only reason I continued to listen; what a great guy. He didn't deserve to get pulled because of that Idiot Casey. Ray could work with anyone and adjust quickly. I'm not sure who is behind these decisions there at the station but he or she should be fired as well. I think you will lose a lot of listeners now. After the second change now to the show, I won't even give these guys a chance.

ReplyDeleteSo sad that casey and Rossi were fired out of the blue like that. Even though Casey was annoying at times I enjoyed listening to the topics that they picked ,better than D&D.Guess I'll find another station.

Icould not believe you let Casey stay on your show as long as you did.He was the rudest most obnoxious person I ever listened to.Sometimes I had to pull over to the side of the rode because he would make me so mad.I feel bad for Rossi because he did a great job when Casey wasnt there..You should have kept Rossi.Judy should be next to go..Did you hear how she talked to the lady the other day about paying for her mothers cell phone?

ReplyDeleteI tried to give D&D a chance but OMG, I got so sleeeeeeeeepy and on 78 during rush hour, sleepy just doesn't cut it. KTU (103.5) is awesome -- lots of great music and they have the War of the Roses around 5:40 p.m. every day, which is so funny. And if they are repeats, they give you the two week update.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed The Jersey Guys. I'm truly going to miss the show. I might not have always agreed, and Casey may have made me roll my eyes at times, but my drive home went quickly.

It is such a relief to not have to listen to that Casey thing anymore. What an ignorant moron he was. I feel sorry for the listeners of the station that pick him up. I will miss Rossi though. Welcome back the new guys. So far so good.

I would switch stations when he acted up. He was also rude to the callers.
Does their show have any practical value?
ReplyDeleteThey mostly get anonymous callers who may or may not know what they are talking about. Music and news is certainly preferable to shocking calls.
This is like the Jerry Springer Show w/o pictures.
I pity any fool who believes either the callers or hosts.
