Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK-FM’s huge summer party, MGK’s Big Gig, returns on Sunday, June 12 at BB&T Pavilion.
This year’s line-up features two rock icons that have sold tens of millions of records and penned plenty of rock ‘classics’ between them. British rock legends, Bad Company and Eagles guitarist/solo superstar Joe Walsh will bring their decades of showmanship and mountain of hit songs to the radio station’s annual outdoor bash. British singer, songwriter and recording artist, Steve Rodgers (son of Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers), will play an acoustic set and WMGK’s House Band, Tommy Froelich Trio (from Coatesville, PA), will also be on the bill.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 11 at Noon via Ticketmaster.com, the Live Nation box office, the BB&T Pavilion box office, Ticketmaster outlets, or by calling 800-745-3000. This weekend only, lawn tickets are just $10.29. A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit local veterans via the Philadelphia Multi-Service Center.
The MGK air staff will host the festivities. From the moment the doors open at 6:00pm until the last note, there will be plenty of activities for concert goers to engage in.
I had always hoped that we would do something together and so here we are 30 years later finally touring together”, Bad Company lead singer Paul Rodgers commented. “There is only one Joe Walsh, he is such a unique person and an uber talented singer, songwriter and musician.”
“I have a huge amount of respect for Paul of course and the band and we get along great,” added Walsh. “Paul and I agreed it would be a hell of an evening of music, one that will be memorable for everyone who comes, and memorable for us, and that’s important in this day and age.”
