In a Facebook post Thursday afternoon, Grayson wrote: "If you are as frustrated as I am that my efforts were apparently not adequate, feel free to let them know."

The post suggest that fans of the show call the station, with Grayson adding, "PLEASE be cordial and remember that the people who answer the phones DO NOT make personnel decisions. Those are made by Mark Dorsey," the station's general manager.

In a phone interview, Dorsey said, "Jon is a great guy and a great broadcaster. We just decided to go in a different direction."

Grayson concluded his post by saying, "We gave it our all, you and me. Much love to everyone who made us a part of your day."

For at least the time being, this brings an end to Grayson's 17-year run on STL radio.

He was hired in 2001 by KMOX 1120 AM and worked the midnight shift, which also was syndicated for a time through the Westwood One network.

In March 2017, Grayson left KMOX and moved to KTRS 550 AM and worked the 10 a.m. to noon shift.
