R.I.P.: Nebraska Radio Broadcaster Brad Fossberg

Brad Fossberg
Longtime KRGI 1430 AM news and sports director 51-year-old Brad Fossberg died Saturday after a nearly yearlong battle with cancer and a lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis, according to omaha.com.

“Brad was one of those guys that gave selflessly of himself,” said Alan Usher, KRGI’s vice president and general manager. “He’s a good physical example of giving until it hurts and even then keeping on giving, whether it be a charitable function, or if he was asked to announce or emcee.”

Despite the breathing and endurance challenges that cystic fibrosis can bring, Fossberg pursued his love of sports announcing.

He worked at several radio stations, including one in his hometown of Nebraska City, and then became the sports director at KRGI in 1995. He was promoted to news director as well in 1998.
