iHM To Syndicate Black Information Network

iHeartMedia has announced a major expansion for its Black Information Network (BIN), making the full 24/7 all-news format available for syndication to radio stations owned by other companies through Premiere Networks, iHeartMedia's syndication arm.

The move opens BIN beyond iHeartMedia's own 860+ stations, allowing non-iHeart broadcasters to integrate its content on a market-exclusive basis. The syndication launches on November 1, 2025, marking a shift from BIN's previous exclusivity to iHeart-owned outlets.

This development builds on BIN's growth since its 2020 launch, positioning it as a go-to source for objective, culturally relevant news tailored to Black audiences. As iHeartMedia President of Multicultural Business & Development and BIN President Tony Coles stated: “Over the past five years, the Black Information Network (BIN) has grown into one of the most trusted and credible news brands serving Black audiences. You’ll find the BIN All News format on AM and FM radio in 34 markets and nationally on the iHeartRadio app. Around the clock, Black writers, anchors, and reporters are telling the stories that matter to our community, from a Black perspective.”

BIN is iHeartMedia's pioneering 24/7 national and local all-news audio service, launched on June 30, 2020, amid heightened national conversations about racial justice following the killing of George Floyd.

It was created to fill a gap in mainstream media by providing:

Objective, Black-perspective journalism: Coverage of national and local stories impacting Black communities, delivered by Black anchors, reporters, and writers.

Low ad load: Fewer commercials per hour compared to typical radio networks, allowing more focus on content.

Multi-platform access: Available on iHeartRadio app, connected devices, and over-the-air via dedicated AM/FM stations or HD Radio subchannels.

Key milestones:Initial rollout: Debuted on 15 iHeartMedia stations in markets with large African American populations (e.g., New York, Chicago, Los Angeles).

Growth: Expanded to 60 affiliates across 49 U.S. markets by 2025, including acquisitions like WWRL (New York) in 2020 and KHVN/KKGM (Dallas-Fort Worth) in late 2020.

Early syndication: In September 2020, Premiere began offering short (:60) top/bottom-of-hour newscasts from BIN to nearly 20 stations nationwide, including in Chicago, Houston, and Minneapolis.

BIN draws from iHeartMedia's resources, including its Total Traffic and Weather Network for local updates, and partners with brands like Bank of America, CVS Health, GEICO, Lowe’s, McDonald’s, Sony, 23andMe, and Verizon to fund its mission without heavy reliance on ratings pressure.
