Netflix Jumps Into Podcasts With Spotify Deal

Spotify and Netflix have announced a major distribution partnership that will bring select video podcasts from Spotify to Netflix starting in early 2026.

This marks Netflix's first significant entry into the video podcasting space, capitalizing on the explosive growth of visual audio content, while expanding Spotify's reach to Netflix's massive global subscriber base of over 280 million users.

Joe Rogan not included
The deal focuses on curated shows from Spotify Studios and The Ringer (acquired by Spotify in 2020 for $250 million), spanning genres like sports, pop culture, lifestyle, and true crime. Financial terms, including licensing fees or revenue-sharing details, were not disclosed.

The video versions of these podcasts will debut exclusively on Netflix and Spotify in the U.S. in early 2026, with international rollout to follow in other markets. They will no longer be available on YouTube, where many had previously garnered hundreds of thousands of views, shifting distribution to these two platforms.

Initially, 16 podcasts will launch, with plans to add more from additional studios and genres over time.

Notable Exclusions: High-profile Spotify exclusives like The Joe Rogan Experience (Spotify's most-listened-to podcast globally) are not part of this deal, as Spotify only holds distribution rights rather than ownership.
